Honeywell RN507W Review

Seriously, this product reminded me of something you would get out of a claw machine or a happy meal.

The projection clock projected a red square and the radio could not tune to the local station without mind-boggling static. It didn't exactly instill confidence that the weather alert might work. It was made from flimsy plastic that reminded me of those plastic easter eggs. Thank god for return policies.

Well, I have this radio now for some time.

Shortly after the warranty time, two major problems occured:
1. the radio volume cannot be adjusted anymore (side volume knob dead),
2. the radio stations cannot be changed anymore, so I have to live with those that I prgrammed so far.

All other functions work (esp. weather radio part), although these two are essential to a radio, aren't they? As long as I don't change my location (and thus radio frequencies), I guess I can live with that handicap...

This product has been rendered useless because of its design. The NOAA weather reports (which are the only reason you'd buy it in the first place) BLARE out of the radio. You cannot lower the volume to anything approaching a reasonable level. A call to their tech support line confirmed this design flaw. I was advised to hook up my own external speakers to it that can control the volume. That ruins the "portable" feature of the radio. My opinion - avoid this horribly designed weather alert radio.
